#7 Be involved.
- The past year had been a blast! It wasn't as simple as it looks but it's just awesome! Going back to being involved. When I was still in high school, I joined every school organization that I want to be involved in. When I entered college, I tried to be involved in a school organization called green media group. I passed the interview and all the screening but I decided not to attend meetings and not be active and not go to the 5-hour weekly residency. In short, I got kicked out of the organization but I have reasons why I wasn't that active. One of them is that I was having a hard time balancing things out. I had a hard time coping up with La Salle's system and I also had a hard time making friends. At the end of the first term, I got used to La Salle's system and commuting but it was too late and I was already kicked out of the organization. This year taught me that as much as possible I have to be involved and never waste an opportunity that was given to me.
- Yes, college is a bit intimidating but nothing will happen to me if I'm gonna shut my mouth. This is also one of the reasons why my block mates hated me but they didn't stop me from doing why I want to do. The key is to not get intimidated.
- I learned this from my SPEECOM class this term. It's just, I have to speak out in this class. Nothing will happen to me in this class if I still remain shy.
- Yes, I almost failed both of my Kaspil classes during the first and second term but there's something with nationalism that just sinked in to me, with the help of one of my tred classmate. That tred classmate of mine is from the States and she voiced it out in class that there is one thing that we Filipinos don't have, a sense of national pride. She shared in class that in where she was from there is one thing that is instill in their minds and that is to be proud of who they are and where they from. It strucked me and reminded me of who I am, where I am from, and how proud I should be.
- It's another thing I learned from my SPEECOM class that I know I should carry throughout my whole existence. Right now, my family is facing a lot of problems but that's another story, and in order to get through my everyday life/routine I should fake all my emotions and paint a good old smile on my face. I'm not saying anything about being fake to people O:-).
- Be very boring! To be boring means to be able to focus twice as much on certain things. To be boring is also to be interesting. And yes, you can be both at the same time. You just have to know how to balance yourself between being boring and being interesting.
- Especially if you can do more. One thing I learned from Rez Toledo is to be Magis, meaning to be more. It's one thing instill in every Ateneans mind and they try to practice it. I know I'm not from Katip and it's a Jesuit teaching but It's something that I also want to practice.
- Last term, I was .03 away from being on the Dean's list. I felt really bad about me not giving everything I have but it's also during that term when I realized that I shouldn't settle for mediocrity and I should push myself into giving my 101%
- I'm only seventeen, I don't have a job, I'm only in my freshman year, and I haven't really experience what life is yet but one thing I learned from all my experience is that we have to be open to life's quest for countless possibilities. Life itself id a very rough transition and we just have to deal with it. Life is beautiful and hopefully we'll all realize that.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
